About us

We are a friendly branch and warmly welcome all to our meetings.  We are fortunate to host our monthly meetings at the Winterbourne House and Gardens.  These meetings take place on the third Tuesday of each month from 7.00 pm.

If you’re intrigued by the unique beauty of cacti and succulents, or if you’re simply seeking to learn more about caring for these distinctive plants, we would be delighted to welcome you to our meetings.  You do not have to be a BCSS member to come along!  Further details can be found on our meetings page.

Throughout the year, we host a variety of exciting events, including a spectacular annual show at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, a highlight event that showcases the extraordinary beauty and diversity of these plants.  Please see our events page for more information.

Winterbourne House and Garden by Grey Milner 1997

Winterbourne House and Garden

The Birmingham Branch of BCSS is unique in that we host our meetings and work closely with Horticulturalists at the Winterbourne House and Botanic Garden.  This includes branch members curating the arid house at the Winterbourne botanic garden.  This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and care for these amazing plants and to share this with the other plant enthusiasts and the wider community alike.

Restored to its Edwardian Arts and Craft splendour, Winterbourne House is a unique heritage attraction – set within seven acres of beautiful botanic gardens. Only minutes from Birmingham city centre, Winterbourne is a hidden gem – home to beautiful antiques and over 6,000 plant species from around the world. Wander along the woodland walk, stroll through the hazelnut tunnel, cross the 1930’s Japanese Bridge or simply soak up the tranquillity of this perfectly English Edwardian home. For more detailed information, visit their official website.
